I remember sleeping on a pallet on the floor next to the wood stove at Granny and Granddaddy's house...daddy would get up in the middle of the night to put wood on the fire-it was the only heat in the house beside the oven. The next day we would all go in the kitchen and huddle around the oven while granny and mom cooked breakfast. We often wore our coats in the house in the wintertime.
