Write love on your arm…
November 13, 2008I just found this organization and tomorrow is the day. Write love on your arm to show support and to let others know that cutting, self-harm, suicide and depression are treatable.
Savannah has been cutting for 2 years and burning herself with cigarettes about 6 months. i don’t understand the release it brings her, but it does do something for her, helps her cope in some way, helps her control her anger, etc. so many other kids do it–even AJ did some too. It is so sad to see all this destruction and self hate in these kids. Go to www.twloha.com to learn more.

Hey! So glad you found TWLOHA day! No, I don’t have a PR Team or anything cool like that. It wasn’t even my idea, I just loved it and wanted to promote it. I know TWLOHA does a big promotion and more when they do their national day around Valentine’s Day. I have a few students in my youth group who became big fans of the organization. I wasn’t sure if it was because of the bands or they, themselves do or know of someone who cuts. Regardless, it’s a great group and I had at least 8 of us here that participated (including my barista at Starbucks that let me write on her arms!)
Cutting is crazy. From what I’ve read about it, victims have a problem ‘feeling.’ So they cut to physically feel something and therefore even the pain makes them feel better. However, I had a friend who did something similar in high school but he said he did it because he’d rather inflict pain on himself than let his tempter inflict pain on someone else.
All I really know to do is point people to hope and love and pray that a cure is found.
